Since the Victorian era Forest of Dean Stone Firms’ products have been used to construct and complement. Our sandstone is durable and hard-wearing, and can be crafted to suit domestic and commercial applications.
Our Forest Pennant sandstone has been used to create landscaping and feature products for gardens, parks, public spaces and RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gardens. Form and function are catered for with our paving, walling stone and gabions while your imagination can run wild with our specialist commission service - we have the in-house expertise to create something extraordinary.
We provide stone for landscape engineering as well as a broad range of building and decorative stones for different applications: landscaping stones, rockery stones and walling stones.
Our feature standing stones have been installed in public spaces as sculptures, geological gardens, used as memorial features and boundary markers, and even provided a talking point in the Gold Medal Award M&G Garden at RHS Chelsea 2016. Alternatively, our rockery stone, sold by the bag, comes in all shapes and sizes and typically weigh between 25-50kg each.
Forest Pennant sandstone has long been used as a paving product due to its non-slip and hardwearing properties. With variations in colour and finish you can create a paved area like no other. We can supply mixed colour or blue Forest Pennant in a sawn or bush hammered finish for pathways, patios, terraces and entrances.
Forest pennant copings/cappings are perfect to finish off any wall, plain and simple in sawn six-sided format, or more bespoke with a variety of edge finish detailing- eased edge, pencil round, demi or full bullnose and chamfer, straights or radials in variety of colours and surface texture finishes. For a more traditional and rustic finish, we can supply our cock and hen copings straight from the quarry, which complements our natural walling products.
Forest Pennant solid steps are created to bespoke dimensions and specification requirements; cut using our profiling saws and shaped by our skilled banker masons - available as straight or radial units and in a choice of our Pennant colours and surface finishes and edge detailing our Pennant materials are a step above.. An alternative to our solid steps, treads and risers can be produced separately for a cost effective solution - and all of the above applications are available in this format.
One for garden enthusiasts, our natural Forest Pennant walling stone is perfect for creating boundaries and feature walls which work with the landscape. This is a natural product; height, width, length and thickness are variable and all sizes are suited for manual handling.
Our Random Rectangular Cropped Building Stone and Natural Walling Stone are both suitable for gabion facing stone. We can also supply a lower grade material for gabion in-fill if required.
We can offer large selected Forest Pennant stone for landscape engineering projects, which includes river and coastal environments. Natural stone is the ideal choice for harsh environments as it is extremely hard wearing and durable.
